Another hot summer day, and I headed up the mountain, to the beautiful garden at the Zen Center. Agnieszka is there for a year, and is taking care of the garden. It is a big garden, a huge job, about 16 long beds of flowers and vegetables. It is a beautiful place to be, with the birds singing, and the roosters across the road. I felt honored to be there, and even more honored to be invited to stay for lunch with my new friends. In between painting, I helped Agnieszka hang some tarps and screens to shade the tomato plants which were being fried by the abnormally hot sun. I began this painting about 8a.m., trying to beat the heat. Stopped to have lunch with my new friends, and continued a couple more hours in the heat of the afternoon. It's a big painting, and finally the heat made me stop. I returned early the next morning -another hot day-and finished it.
