This is the first of my series of Dahlia still life paintings. I found these beautiful peachy yellow dahlias at the farmers market, and for days became obsessed with putting them in different vases around my home. The most poetic of the settings was to be my patio, where the late afternoon sun shines onto the distressed yellow table. My friend, Crystal, had just given me a dozen beautiful lemons from her tree, so they became the partner to the dahlias. This Italian vase is a new one. It will appear in more of my floral still life paintings.
