If I want the natural beauty and solitude of the country, I go to Green Gulch Farm in Muir Beach, Marin County. Besides being a working farm with beautiful gardens next to the ocean, it is a Zen Buddhist center. While there are people around, no one expects you to talk and everyone walking by exudes a peaceful feeling to me. They smile nice. Their eyes are gentle. This makes for a very successful painting experience for me every time I paint there. I used to live in Mill Valley so it was a 5 minute drive to get to this beauty and hike the mountains of the Marin Headlands or spend the afternoon painting their beautiful land. This painting shows the hiking trails and beautiful mountains around the Green Gulch Farms.
