Two months later, I finished this painting. I was thinking of Tamayo and his wonderful watermelon paintings. I wanted to keep the loose unfinished look that the painting had after my first session with it. I like the transparencies in the paint and the simplicity of the objects and how the shapes relate to each other and the warmness of the watermelon on an Indian summer day in September. And I like how succulent and sweet the watermelon was --my reward after a few days of painting.
