Matanzas Creek Winery is known for its thousands of lavender plants. I paint here a lot, since I live just 4 miles away. It feels like I’m in Provence, when I stand amidst the lavender and olive trees. This painting was made in June, just before the lavender harvest. It was my intent to capture the smell of the lavender and the flowing olive branches as they flickered in the breeze on that cool summer day.
