 "Every element in this painting is weighted equally with color. The sky is as intense as the lupine and its shadows. The trees are pure color and painted with thick saturated color. This was made soon after the big fire in that area, so many trees were barren charred trunk.. I made them pink and orange in the upper right background. I am always searching for a childlike spontaneity when I paint." Kathleen Elsey
