During my October visit to Sonoma County, where I lived for four years, I often visited Matanzas Creek Winery to paint their 4,000 lavender plants, olive trees and beautiful vineyards. This painting was made in October when most of the lavender was harvested as you can see inthe small green mounds that are left behind. I hope that this painting reflects the peace and beauty I enjoyed while painting it.
