I began this painting as a demonstration for my students in the Santa Barbara Painting Workshop. It was a foggy misty day. I worked for a couple of hours, then went back a few days later when the sun was shining. I was able to get the sunshine in my colors. I love the red roses in the rose garden. I wanted to capture the smell of the roses, the tolling of the bells, the singing birds and the gentle breeze flowing through the pepper trees.
