As seen in the Millicent Rogers Museum, Plein Air Painters of New Mexico Annual Juried Exhibition 2013We had some wonderful painting days with exceptional weather. Lots of sunshine, and, of course, the obligatory 1 pm rainstorm. Photo above is the day our painting workshop group painted at the Taos Morada. The Hacienda Martinez was built in 1804 and is one of the few “Great Houses” remaining in the American Southwest. It looks like a fortress with massive adobe walls. Of it’s 21 rooms, I found the kitchen and the blacksmith rooms most amazing. I hope to paint these interiors some day, but for now I painted the entry to the Hacienda on a hot September day with the Kathleen Elsey Painting Workshop group. On the right, you can see my unfinished demonstration painting of the Taos Morada made on different day. |
