Kathleen Elsey Wins in Carmel's 2004 National Juried Plein Air Competition

Carmel, California, May 15, 2004– The Carmel Art Festival has awarded Kathleen Elsey of Santa Barbara, California an Honorable Mention for her painting "Truck for Trade". Kathleen is one of 82 artists invited from the nation to participate in this year’s competition.

She is a successful award-winning painter with works in collections nationwide as well as abroad. She is a signature member of the National Association of Women Artists and a founding member of En Couleur, a group of seven California colorists. She has painted competitively in national events and exhibited in museums across the country. Ms. Elsey expresses her artistic visions with a strong emphasis on light, expressive brushwork and richly saturated colors. And, true to Impressionist style, her paintings are evocative of a time, place and mood.

Kathleen Elsey has recently relocated to Santa Barbara after living in Northern California for 25 years. Ms. Elsey is represented by Gallery Oscar in Ketchum, Idaho,  Portico Gallery in Montecito, California, William Lester Gallery in Pte. Reyes Station, California, and Hermitage Gallery in Reno, Nevada.
